St. Louis, MO – Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich included $41 million for the bridge in his capital bill, but even if the legislature approves this money, the project still needs $630 million more from Illinois and Missouri.
That money would satisfy the state match needed to receive the $239 million in federal funds already earmarked for the $910 million bridge project.
But there is no guarantee the legislature will approve Blagojevich's request, and neither state has a plan to fund the shortfall.
