St. Louis, MO. – Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan wants state lawmakers to consider a set of legislative proposals she says will enhance business and deter consumer fraud.
Carnahan's package includes stiffer penalties for those who commit securities fraud, requiring biannual corporate registration and protecting intellectual property.
She says tax liability risks should also be adjusted to spur investment:
We also want to reduce the fees for limited liability companies that do online filings you know; that's a lot easier and less time consuming for businesses and for the people in my office, Carnahan said. We also want to do other things that provide liability protection for small businesses. It's all very common sense stuff.
Carnahan plans to unveil a similar set of proposals to update election laws in the coming weeks.
