St. Louis, MO – Exclusive negotiations with a potential buyer have ended, which means the sale of the Blues is again off.
Bill and Nancy Laurie put the team on the market in June. A previous negotiating agreement fell through, which led to this most recent agreement that had the Blues talking with Detroit-based group called General Sports and Entertainment.
Blues president Mark Sauer said Tuesday night the period of exclusivity simply lapsed and negotiations with other interested parties will now resume.
Sauer refused to say if any other potential buyers are local. The Blues' lease with the Savvis Center requires the team to stay in St. Louis through the 2010-2011 season.
The Lauries bought the team in 1999. They cited several years of multi-million-dollar losses when they put the franchise up for sale.
