St. Louis, MO. – Archbishop Raymond Burke has declared that St. Stanislaus Kostka can no longer be considered Roman Catholic.
The north side church has been at odds with Burke for two years over the control of parish finances.
A lay board of directors has run the church for more than a century. And Burke says that violates Catholic law.
Last month the board hired its own priest. Burke said that was an act of schism. And he declared the six board members and the priest to be excommunicated.
Friday he issued a decree of suppression against the church. That means the Archdiocese no longer considers St. Stanislaus to be a Roman Catholic parish.
