Springfield, Ill. – Illinois Senate President Emil Jones was released from a Chicago hospital on Wednesday, according to his spokeswoman.
Cindy Davidsmeyer says the 70-year old Jones will rest at home for the next few days, but he is expected to return to Springfield next week when the legislative session begins.
The Chicago Democrat sought treatment after feeling some tightness in his chest Sunday. He underwent an angioplasty Wednesdayday at the University of Chicago Hospitals.
Jones is a long-time veteran of Illinois politics, being first elected in 1972 and having served as Senate president since January 2003.
