St. Louis, MO. – A group of St. Louis County residents will help state transportation officials plan a major re-routing of traffic while workers rebuild Highway 40 over the next four years.
County Executive Charlie Dooley appointed the 11 people. He wants them to come up with suggestions for ways MODOT can move traffic through and around the construction site.
He says that will help MODOT keep the project on time and on budget.
Dee Joyner with Commerce Bank is one of the task force members.
A significant amount of money is being committed to the St. Louis region, Joyner said. And we really want to see that money be spent here in a way that's going to improve our transportation choices for many years to come.
The project is scheduled to start in the fall. And it's expected to be done in late 2010.
Planners say its cost will be more than a half billion dollars.
