Columbia, MO. – With a deadline just a few days away, the Secretary of State's office says Missouri is getting close to having all 116 voting jurisdictions incorporated into a statewide voter registration database.
Federal law mandates all states have such databases operating by the first of the year.
Secretary of State's spokesman Mike Seitz says Missouri is closer to that goal than most other states.
"This system is basically just one big list of all the registered voters in the state that all the county clerks can access. The remaining jurisdictions are in the final implementation stages or have a plan to bring them into compliance with this system," Seitz said.
At least one conflict remains, though.
Officials in Boone County say they still want written agreements with the state before implementing the new system there.
