By Associated Press

St. Louis, MO – Republican Senator Kit Bond of Missouri says President Bush has the right under the Constitution to authorize domestic surveillance without court approval.

Bond made the comment during a news conference today in St. Louis. He says the intent of the surveillance is to capture messages from terrorist sources.

Meanwhile, Bond says the president's authorization of eavesdropping on Americans and others in the U.S. with suspected ties to terrorists was unlawfully disclosed.

He believes the person who revealed the secret information should go to prison, saying the country is much less safe as a result.
