St. Louis, MO – A group of people trying to recall a St. Louis Alderman turned in more signatures this week in hopes of forcing a vote.

This is the second batch of signatures for those who want Jeffrey Boyd out as the 22nd Ward Alderman. Only about half of the names they first turned in were valid - leaving them more than 200 short of forcing a vote.

On Tuesday, they turned in a few hundred more signatures, which city election officials now have to validate or reject.

If this second batch still fails to produce enough valid signatures, the recall effort will die. If there are enough, however, a vote will be scheduled in the 22nd Ward.

This would be the second recall in St. Louis City in a year. Voters recently kicked Tom Bauer out as 24th Ward Alderman and replaced him with Bill Waterhouse.

But further questions about the Boyd recall recently arose when the Post-Dispatch found that some of the names originally considered valid were actually those of dead people. Election officials say they plan to turn over records to prosecutors for further investigation.
