St. Louis, MO. – The St. Louis School Board race is officially underway.
Four candidates have filed with the Board of Elections Tuesday including former member Bill Haas, board watchdog Peter Downs, current board president Darnetta Clinkscale, and interim board member James Buford.
Haas says he's unhappy with the board's current direction, especially in light of the district's slipping scores on state exams.
With the Mayor's slate in charge we've gone from 64 points on our state accreditation to 39, which is unaccredited and we have two or three years to get back to full accreditation if we want to be the district that would be good for the city, Haas said.
Voters will choose two candidates in April's election.
The deadline for filing is January 17th.
