Education and jail reform activist Ann Carter Stith dies at 85

St. Louis, MO – Stith served on numerous task forces, community agency boards and federal commissions.

She was on a St. Louis County grand jury that investigated allegations of government corruption, was part of a board that published a series of scathing reports on conditions at the St. Louis County Jail, and was on the committee that oversaw the desegregation of the St. Louis Public Schools.

A memorial service for Stith will be at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Washington University's Graham Chapel.
