St. Louis – After three years behind the microphone, Wayne Hagin is out as the radio voice of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Hagin will be replaced by John Rooney, the long-time radio play-by-play announcer for the Chicago White Sox.
Rooney was born in Richmond, Mo., near Kansas City. He graduated from the University of Missouri, and went on to become play-by-play voice of the Tigers.
Rooney also broadcast baseball games for the Louisville Redbirds, was a minor league affiliate of the Cardinals, and once worked at KMOX.
Hagin and Rooney worked together for the White Sox from 1988 to 1991.
