St. Louis, MO – Rams interim coach Joe Vitt is doing well after a heart procedure Monday called a cardiac catheterization. He was back to work at Rams Park by lunch time, then held his regular day-after-game news conference with reporters.
Vitt, 51, was appointed interim coach two weeks ago when Rams coach Mike Martz stepped down for the season due to a heart valve problem.
A Rams spokesman had earlier mistakenly described the procedure as angioplasty. Doctors had planned to do that procedure, but decided it was unneeded.
The catheter procedure insolves guiding a long, thin tube into the heart. It can be used to diagnose or treat a problem.
