Washington, D.C. – The wife of Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton died Tuesday morning in Kansas City. Susie Skelton was 69.
A statement from the congressman's office said she suffered a heart attack at her home in Lexington, Mo.
The Skeltons had just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in July. Susie Skelton's birthday was last Friday.
Survivors include her husband and three sons. Memorial arrangements are pending.
Ike Skelton is the ranking Democratic member on the House Armed Services Committee. He's serving his 15th term in Congress, having first been elected to the U.S. House in 1976.
