Jefferson City, MO – Governor Matt Blunt on Wednesday called Missouri lawmakers into a special session. The session will start September 6, just before the already-planned veto session.
The governor is asking lawmakers to do 17 things, many of which include clearing up language on measures that passed earlier this spring.
But Blunt also wants new limits on abortions in Missouri. Lawmakers adjourned in May without passing any anti-abortion legislation.
Also on the agenda are measures fixing problems with new laws on drunken driving, workers' compensation and distribution of prescription drugs at schools.
Lawmakers could also repeal a new ban on posting public officials' home addresses and phone numbers on the Internet. They also might consider a resolution opposing plans to raise the Missouri River in the spring.
