St. Louis, MO – The Missouri Botanical Garden announced Wednesday that a Chihuly glass exhibit will be on display next April.
More than fifty pieces will be custom made for the exhibit by Dale Chihuly and the Chihuly Studios. Chihuly is world known for his large neon, argon, and glass-blown pieces.
The garden's director, Peter Raven, says the pieces and flowers will accent each others. "Chihuly has said he wants his art to look like it was created by nature to be right on the spot where it is exhibited and that is just the way that this exhibition will be presented."
Kim Tucci, Chairman of the St. Louis Convention and Visitor Commission, says he is excited to see how the exhibit will affect tourism.
"It comes at the magnificent time, May through October. So that's when we are in the height of our tourism and leisure season. Plus all the people that come in here for conventions and meetings; this is a big deal, an added attraction to come over here and see this exhibit," Tucci said.
Chihuly glass has appeared at the St. Louis Art Museum and other locations in St. Louis.
