St. Louis, MO – Sunday was the last chance for parishioners at a number of Catholic churches in St. Louis to say good-bye. The masses also represented a chance for those who had moved out of those parishes to come back one last time.
The Archdiocese is closing or consolidating 28 churches in South St. Louis city and North St. Louis County.
Those changes take effect this Friday (July 1) which means Sunday's were the last mass that will be held at the churches.
Some had been open for more than a century. The Archdiocese says the closing churches didn't serve enough people to stay open.
Some church buildings are already on the market to be sold.
