Washington, DC – The head of the Missouri Republican Party is now an Ambassador.
The U.S. Senate Thursday night approved Ann Wagner's nomination to be the new U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg.
Wagner was re-elected in February to her fourth term as leader of the state's Republican Party.
Luxembourg is a small country (smaller than Rhode Island) wedged between France and Germany. It has a population of about 469,000.
Wagner was re-elected in February to her fourth two-year term as leader of the state's Republican party. She was the first woman chosen to lead the party and presided over big GOP wins in last year's governor's race, as well as the first party takeover of the Missouri General Assembly in decades.
Missouri's 11 electoral votes also went to President Bush last year, and she served for a time as a co-chair of the national Republican Party.
