St. Louis, MO. – The state of Missouri has awarded nearly $110 million in highway improvement projects to the St. Louis region.
The projects include a $12 million resurfacing and bridge repair on Interstate 55 from Lindbergh to south Broadway, and several resurfacings on Interstate 270.
Missouri Department of Transportation spokesman Chris Sutton says those projects will begin this summer and should be completed by the fall of 2006.
"Mo-DOT has gone in and done periodic resurfacing, and we continue to do that
until we have money to completely rebuild," Sutton said. "But resurfacing buys you quite a few years for smooth pavement."
Repairs continue on the Blanchette Bridge.
Sutton says crews may be able to finish work on the two left lanes of the eastbound bridge by the end of the month.
