Jefferson City, MO – Missouri lawmakers who helped write the state's new budget admitted Thursday it wasn't balanced.
They say they only passed it last month on the assumption Governor Matt Blunt would make more cuts before signing it into law.
Blunt is expected to need to trim about $26 million through his line-item veto powers. But schools won't be cut because the governor has already signed that part of the budget into law.
That means the cuts would have to come from either colleges, social services, prisons, or other state agencies.
