St. Louis, MO – President Bush will be in St. Louis tonight (Thursday) to help U.S. Senator Jim Talent raise more than $1 million for his re-election campaign next year.
Democrats are still trying to find a big name to run against Talent. The national party has been courting State Auditor Claire McCaskill.
Talent is a first-term Senator who's finishing the term originally won in 2000 by the late Mel Carnahan. Carnahan's widow, Jean, was appointed to take the seat her husband won, but could only keep it until the next election year (2002). That's when Talent won the seat.
