Jefferson city, MO – The state of Missouri is getting ready to execute Donald Jones at midnight tonight (12:01 a.m. Wednesday).

It would be the second execution in Missouri this year and first ever at the prison in Bonne Terre.

Jones was sentenced to death for killing his grandmother in 1993 for not giving him money for drugs. He stabbed her more than 30 times.

He's appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court and asked Governor Matt Blunt for a pardon.

The state moved the execution chamber to Bonne Terre from a prison in Potosi, saying the Bonne Terre facility was built to house executions, while the Potosi prison was not.
