Allegiant Air to Expand Service at MidAmerica Airport

By AP/KWMU

Mascoutah, Ill. – Allegiant Air hasn't yet started offering passenger service out of MidAmerica Airport in the Metro-East, but the company announced Thursday it will double the number of flights it offers there.

The Las Vegas-based airline plans to begin offering nonstop flights from MidAmerica to Las Vegas on April 29th. Those flights will run twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.

On Thursday, the airline said it will add flights on Sundays and Thursdays, beginning June 30.

Airline spokesman Tyri Squyres says the company is delighted with the response from the southern Illinois. The company declined to give specifics on the number of flights that have been booked so far.

Allegiant Air currently serves 16 cities nationwide and caters to people traveling to Las Vegas.
