Jefferson City, MO. – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt signed into law a spending bill for the rest of this current fiscal year.
The supplemental budget lets the state spent $217 million more until June 30 than was originally planned for in the current budget.
Most of the new money will be spent on social services like Medicaid, food stamps and adoptions.
Blunt signed the extra spending Saturday but made the fact known Monday.
There's also money for the First Steps program, but that has no effect on whether the program might go away on July First.
Lawmakers are still debating whether to get rid of First Steps as the governor proposed in his budget address earlier this year.
