Next Tuesday, voters in the Bayless school district in south St. Louis County will decide on a proposed property tax rate increase.
Finances have always been a tough issue for the district. Just four years ago, Bayless stood on the brink of collapse before passing a $0.75 tax levy on its fourth try.
But if this latest measure passes, officials say they'll charge homeowners less money than they'd originally planned for.
Superintendent Maureen Clancy-May explained to KWMU's Kevin Lavery how this paradigm shift came about.
