Van Buren, MO – The Prosecutor in Carter County, Missouri, says he will seek a death sentence for a man who's accused of killing a state trooper. Michael Ligons isn't elaborating on why he'll seek the execution of Lance Shockley, 28, of Van Buren.
Shockley was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl Dewayne Graham, Jr.
Graham was killed outside his home 10 days ago.
Shockley is jailed without bond in Cape Girardeau County; he's scheduled for his next Carter County court appearance next month.
Shockley was arrested March 23th for leaving the scene of a fatal November crash that Graham investigated in Carter County.
