St. Louis, MO –

Hundreds of people who worked on the U.S. atomic weapons program in St. Louis might soon receive the compensation they've spent years lobbying for.

In the 1940s and 1950s, the Mallinckrodt Company operated a uranium processing facility near downtown St. Louis. Scores of workers developed radiation-related cancers. Many of them died.

Now, as KWMU's Kevin Lavery reports, many former workers hope their compensation - and an apology - is finally at hand.
