St. Louis – Federal prosecutors in St. Louis unsealed an indictment Monday in a major bank robbery case.
Authorities say seven men and one woman conspired to rob banks and credit unions in Missouri, Illinois and Ohio over the last five years.
The FBI's Steve Gomez says the robberies were well planned.
"They were using getaway vehicles, walkie-talkies, lookouts," Gomez said. "These guys were sophisticated, and that's the kind of activity that a joint effort from law enforcement requires, and that's what we put together."
Prosecutors say the group allegedly stole nearly $1.4 million, and robbed or tried to rob 18 different financial institutions.
Police have apprehended only three of the suspects. They are still looking for Scott Williams, Barry Ball and Jeffrey Antonio Moore, all of St. Louis, as well as two others.
