Chicago, Ill. – Boeing's President and CEO, Harry Stonecipher, has been forced to resign.
Boeing says the request came after an internal investigation into a personal relationship he had with a female executive at the company.
In a news release, the company said Stonecipher's actions were "inconsistent with Boeing's Code of Conduct" and "would impair his ability to lead the company."
Boeing's chief financial officer, James Bell, has been named interim president and CEO.
Stonecipher is also leaving Boeing's board of directors. He was President and CEO of St. Louis-based McDonnell-Douglas in the 90s until it was merged with Boeing.
