St. Louis – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt says he does not know the partisan makeup of a 20-member board he appointed to restructure state government.

The Republican says his new Government Reform Commission will provide the first comprehensive review of state government in 30 years.

But Democrats say he's rewarding campaign contributors under the guise of reforming government.

An Associated Press report says commission members and their families donated 25 times more to Missouri Republicans than Democrats.

But Blunt insists the group is nonpartisan.

"When I appointed the chairs, I appointed a Republican and a Democrat," Blunt said. "To be honest, that wasn't intentional. It just happened. There are Democrats on the commission; there are Republicans. I don't know the political persuasion of all the members."

The commission will meet for the first time on Tuesday and has a year to finish its work.
