UMSL Will Build New Dorm

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – The University of Missouri at St. Louis is preparing for a construction on a new $26 million dormitory. UMSL officials say the building will help meet a growing demand for student housing.

The building will stand five stories tall and will be the school's first new new residence hall. All other existing dorms and apartments on and off campus were bought or acquired from other organizations and converted into residences.

The campus now has more than 1,000 residential students. The new dorm building will include two- and four-bedroom suites furnished with beds, dressers, desks and Internet access. It will also have common spaces, a kitchen, a small convenience store, and a laundry, exercise, game and computer room.

The school will sell bonds to raise cash to pay for part of the building; other campus funds will pay the rest.
