Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Senate on Tuesday gave first-round approval to limits on the sale of cold medicines that can be used to make methamphetamine.
The bill targets over-the-counter drugs like Sudafed, which contain pseudoephedrine.
Only pharmacies would be allowed to sell the medicines in tablet form, and customers would have to sign a log.
Another vote in the Senate would send the measure to the House.
Missouri is one of several states moving to follow Oklahoma's lead in restricting sales of pseudoephedrine. Meth lab seizures have dropped 80% in Oklahoma since its law took effect last year.
