St. Louis, MO. – Polish parishioners at a Roman Catholic church say no agreement has been reached with the Archdiocese of St. Louis about the control of their governance and assets.

Archbishop Raymond Burke has warned the six-member lay board at
St. Stanislaus Kostka church that they could be denied sacraments
if they failed to agree to changes by Friday.

Archdiocese spokesman Jamie Allman said the archdiocese was still waiting to see if the parishioners would comply. He says no immediate action to move forward with censure was expected.

St. Stanislaus parishioner Richard Bach said immigrants built and paid for their own predominantly Polish church in the late 19th century.

He says the church was not owned by the diocese.
