Chicago, Ill. – A judge in Chicago has denied a media group's request to allow cameras and microphones in the upcoming trial of former Governor George Ryan.
The Illinois News Broadcasters Association had said there are strong arguments for allowing broadcast access of the trial, adding there are more than 12 million Illinoisans who have a stake in the outcome.
But the judge cited a long-standing rule that prohibits broadcasting or taping in federal courtrooms.
