Jefferson City, MO. – Missouri's Governor-elect says he's not expecting state revenue to grow much next fiscal year.

Republican Matt Blunt said Thursday that revenues will climb about two percent in FY '06.

Blunt spokesman Spence Jackson says most of that money will probably come from businesses.

"More corporations are paying more in taxes," Jackson said. "There's more money coming in through sales taxes than has come in recent years. And those are the two biggest contributors to this modest increase of 2.2 percent."

Jackson says single-party control of Missouri government will make it a bit easier to come up with a budget, but it will still be the subject of spirited debate.

Budget projections have been controversial in the past, when Democratic Governor Bob Holden and Republican legislative leaders couldn't agree on a starting point for organizing the state's finances.

Blunt takes office January 10.
