Scott Air Force Base, Ill. – The commander of 375th Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base is saying goodbye.
Colonel Barbara Faulkenberry will become the commander of the Squadron Officer at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.
Faulkenberry says her unit has been an integral part of bringing home soldiers injured in accidents overseas or in the war.
"Over the course of time, 23,000 casualties have come home from the war and we have been instrumental in making sure that every single one of those got home," she said. "We haven't lost a patient in the air over that time frame."
About 9-thousand of the soldiers were wounded in battle.
Colonel Raymond Rottman has assumed command of the 375th Airlift Wing.
