St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis school board Tuesday announced that it has appointed Dr. Pamela Hughes as its new interim superintendent.
Hughes has been serving as the acting interim for just over a month. The district's previous interim head, Floyd Crues, has been on a medical leave of absence since November 15, shortly after a contentious closed door board meeting in which members reportedly discussed Crues' hiring of various personnel at high salaries.
A school spokesman says Crues is still on the district payroll, but his job status is not clear.
Board attorney Ken Brostron says he's been authorized by the board to negotiate a separation agreement with Crues' attorney should Crues decide to leave.
The district hopes to complete its search for a permanent superintendent early next year.
