St. Louis, MO – St. Louis area police are warning of a new carjacking ploy.
They say thieves are putting flyers on the back windows of cars. When people get in their cars and are about to drive off, they see the flyer and get out to remove it. That's when the carjackers jump in and drive away.
One suggestion is to simply make sure back windows are clear of flyers before getting into a car.
Police also say the quicker motorists get rolling in their vehicles, the better. They add one of the best defenses against carjackings is using your seat belt. That's because carjackers rely on speed in stealing the car and speeding off, and it takes precious time to unbuckle a would-be victim and pull them out.
