St. Louis, MO – Amtrak will open a new temporary train station in downtown St. Louis today (Monday).
The $600,000 station will replace the building jokingly referred to as "Am-Shack," which was built more than 25 years ago, also as a temporary station.
The idea for the new temporary station is that it will only be used for a few years while a permanent station is built. That permanent station will also house Metrolink and bus stops.
The St. Louis station hosts three roundtrip trains to Chicago each day; two daily round trips to Kansas City; and one daily round trip to San Antonio.
The new temporary station is right next to the old one, underneath I-64/Hwy. 40 near the Savvis Center.
