St. Louis, MO – St. Louis City school teachers will rally Tuesday and hold a strike vote on Wednesday.
They're in the middle of discussions over a new contract and say the district needs to address safety issues and also the amount of time teachers must work.
The district says teachers have been given a fair deal.
Local 420 of the American Federation of Teachers needs approval from two-thirds of the membership to set a strike date.
If teachers in St. Louis carry through on the threat of a strike, they will violate Missouri law. But Missouri law doesn't include a specific penalty for striking teachers.
