Jefferson City, Mo. – Governor-elect Matt Blunt says he will merge the state's homeland security office into the Department of Public Safety.
Blunt's comments come just a day after homeland security director Tim Daniel announced his resignation.
Daniel reported directly to Governor Holden.
Holden named Missouri National Guard Adjutant General Dennis Shull as the interim homeland security director. But Blunt said that will change when he's sworn into office January tenth.
Blunt says it makes more sense to give the homeland security duties to the director of the Public Safety Department.
