St. Louis, MO – A Missouri legislative committee studying early voting says it has no plans to act next year on the issue.
The city of St. Louis sought early voting before the November election. But a court said it's not allowed under state law.
Committee chair Bill Deeken says the issue needs more study.
But he adds lawmakers could try to allow a few counties to try the idea on a test basis in 2006. If that goes well, they may consider a statewide system in 2008.
