St. Louis, MO – The Cardinals won Game One of their playoff series with the Dodgers on Tuesday, 8-3.
The team hit five home runs, which ties a playoff record. Larry Walker hit two of the home runs; Albert Pujols, Mike Matheny, and Jim Edmonds hit the others.
Edgar Renteria also hit a two-run double to account for the final runs.
The Dodgers got their runs on an RBI double by Jayson Werth in the fifth, a run-scoring triple by Alex Cora in the sixth, and a ninth inning homer by Tom Wilson.
Pitcher Woody Williams got the win, allowing two runs on eight hits over six innings. He struck out two and walked one.
L.A. starter Odalis Perez didn't make it out of the third inning. He gave up six runs.
Game two in the best-of-five series is in St. Louis on Thursday night.
