St. Louis, MO – Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon is going after Show-Me Tickets, Inc.
Nixon's investigators bought bleacher seats for Game One of the playoffs for $70 apiece on the company's website. The tickets' face value is $19.
Missouri law bars the sale of tickets to public sporting events for more than face value...and Nixon says on-line scalping is unfair to true baseball fans.
"Just because someone is smart on the Internet and they can hire a few people to go stand in line and pay them a little bit of cash shouldn't take away from somebody who's working hard and playing by the rules the opportunity to get on the phone or get on the Internet or stand in line to buy tickets from them and their kids to go see the Cardinals," Nixon said.
Nixon says Show-Me Tickets has access to more than 2,800 tickets to upcoming games. The lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order against the company.
