MO Veto Session Starts Today

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Missouri lawmakers return to Jefferson City today (Wed.) for the annual veto session.

They'll consider measures that Governor Bob Holden vetoed this year. It's not expected to be as contentious as last year, when lawmakers over-rode three vetoes.

On Tuesday, a committee met in Jefferson City to explore what the state can do get more people into teaching.

Teachers told lawmakers there's been a decline in respect and a rise in student behavior problems. They also noted low pay and some teachers who they say take second jobs to pay bills.
