FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. – Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld got a driving lesson Tuesday at Fort Leonard Wood.

He climbed into a simulator for Marine truck drivers, then steered his make-believe rig through steep, rugged Middle Eastern terrain.

Rumsfeld scored 88 of a possible 100 points. But he said he'd hoped to do better.

This was Rumsfeld's first visit to Fort Leonard Wood. The southern Missouri Army post trains military police, chemical weapons handlers and engineers, among other specialties.

Rumsfeld saw members of the Navy working alongside Army engineers in a heavy equipment training site.

He stuck his head into a classroom for MP's. And he greeted soldiers staffing a mobile detection lab for biological weapons.
