St. Louis, MO – The baseball cap that got Cardinals pitcher Julian Tavarez thrown out of a recent game will be returned to the team Friday.

Tavarez threw the cap into the stands as he left the field.

He was later suspended for 10 games because for having illegal pine tar on it. Tavarez is appealing that suspension.

The cap was bought on the spot from the person who caught it by aides to former St. Louis County Executive Gene McNary. McNary says he'll return the cap.

Manager Tony LaRussa said he'd like to have the hat back, if for no other reason than to auction it to raise money for the animal rescue he runs in California.
