St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Board of Aldermen passed legislation Friday that will put four proposed charter change amendments on the November ballot.
The items pertain to reorganizing city offices that perform county functions and reducing the size of the Board of Aldermen.
The amendments were drafted by the citizens' group Advance St. Louis.
Third ward alderman Freeman Bosley, Sr. opposes the amendments however, he voted to approve them in order to put them before voters in November.
"It's important that it goes on the November ballot," Bosley said. "There's more people showing up on the November ballot because the president is running. And we've got a better chance of defeating this mess and putting it to bed once and for all."
Aldermanic president Jim Shrewsbury also opposes the amendments.
He says though they are flawed, voters should have a chance to decide their merits for themselves.
