St. Louis – The current President of the well-known booster group Metropolis says he'll probably start a new organization to promote St. Louis City.
Scott Goessling is among those facing re-election to Metropolis's governing board Wednesday night.
But he faces a slate of former leaders who say they're disappointed in the organization and who want to shut it down if they win.
Goessling wants to keep Metropolis going.
But he also says a new organization is needed because former Metropolis leaders have resisted his efforts to update the organization.
"Because that's not what they started it for," Goessling said. "It's really difficult to move forward in an organization independently with your own set of priorities and your own set of issues without having interference from these original people."
Metropolis has long looked to crop future leaders by promoting city living to young people.
But membership has been declining in the past year and the organization's finances are in disarray.
