St. Louis – A federal appeals court rejects a former state child-support supervisor's claims that child pornography found at his workspace was illegally seized.
The Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that Wesley George Thorn, as a public worker, had no legitimate expectation of on-the-job privacy.
Thorn supervised the Division of Child Support Enforcement in Joplin. There, Thorn was found to have accessed pornographic Web sites on his work computer.
Explicit images of children later were found in his office desk, filing cabinet and some computer discs.
Thorn has argued the porn was illegally found without a warrant by his supervisors. So far, the federal courts disagree.
Thorn is serving a two-year, three-month sentence at a federal prison in Texas.
